Describe the pallet and the complete load
Give pallet dimensions, load height, total weight and the way the products are stacked. Highlight overhang, uneven distribution, loose items, projecting features and differences between the smallest and largest loads. Include pallet condition and handling method. The nominal pallet footprint alone cannot explain the way a load behaves while a wrapper operates or while finished goods are moved.
Choose a sample that represents the difficult cases
Show the relevant variation in actual production loads, not only the easiest stable pallet. Identify light, tall, irregular or crush-sensitive configurations for review where these occur. Give the supplier photographs, dimensions and handling information and ask what trial arrangement is suitable. Keep the sample description with the test record so a later production pallet can be compared with the load that was assessed.
Record film and operating conditions
Identify the film used and any agreed settings or application pattern for the proposed machine. Record the circumstances of the trial, observed load movement and any product damage or handling difficulty. Do not transfer a setting from one model or load to another without review. Film usage and finished output need context: the material, load and operating arrangement affect how useful the evidence is.
Assess the handover into the dispatch operation
Review the wrapped load against the checking and handling criteria agreed by your competent team. Identify the movement, staging and onward-transport arrangements that need assessment. A neatly wrapped pallet is not by itself proof of transport acceptance. Keep the site and transport responsibilities explicit and record remaining checks rather than treating the wrapper demonstration as approval of the entire distribution process.
Confirm the proposed hire and operating space
Supply production quantities, required dates, site access and the planned location. Confirm the actual equipment specification, utilities, operating clearances, included items and operator instructions. Discuss the route for faults, changed loads or an extended hire. Ask the written quote to identify availability, delivery, preparation and collection requirements before planning production around a particular wrapper.
Information to include in your enquiry
- Pallet dimensions and condition
- Loaded dimensions, weight and distribution
- Relevant production-load variations
- Film specification and trial record
- Handling and acceptance requirements
- Operating location, access and hire dates
Send the information you have and identify any details still awaiting confirmation. The team can review the outline and explain what else is needed to assess the actual project.
Discuss this requirementTurn the brief into clear decisions
| Planning point | Record to supply | Decision to settle |
|---|---|---|
| Pallet | Size, condition and handling route | Does it represent normal dispatch stock? |
| Load | Shape, height and weight distribution | Which variations need assessment? |
| Film | Material and recorded application | What was actually used in the trial? |
| Assessment | Agreed load and handling checks | Which distribution checks remain separate? |
| Hire | Specific equipment and site scope | Are suitability and dates confirmed? |
Common questions
Is pallet wrapper hire the same as shrink wrapper hire?
A pallet wrapper commonly applies stretch film around a load. Product shrink wrapping uses heat-responsive film around products or bundles. Describe the dispatch or presentation task so the right equipment category can be reviewed.
Can one trial approve every pallet my business uses?
A trial provides evidence for its recorded load and conditions. Identify variations in height, weight, stacking and product sensitivity, then agree which representative loads and checks are needed for the actual hire.
